Spiritual Hug

Spiritual Hug is a tall, curved black steel arc that wraps around a steel sphere finished in a translucent teal patina, like an embrace held in steel. The dark arc and the glowing teal play off each other from every angle.

It was installed in a gravel garden in Nebo, North Carolina, set among boulders with hardwoods behind it. In the fall the red leaves light up behind the teal sphere, which is exactly the kind of setting I love designing for.

Commissioning a piece like this

Spiritual Hug lives in a private garden in Nebo, North Carolina, set among boulders and hardwoods. If you have a garden, a view or a quiet corner that needs a focal point, I can make something for it. Send me a few photos of the spot, and I'll make a rendering of the piece in your own landscape so you can see the scale and forms first. I build in steel, stainless steel and weathering Corten steel, then crate, ship and install anywhere in the US. Tell me about your space and I'll send a quote.
